Hey Brandon, My name is Raymond Rodriguez. I’m from Las Vegas, born and raised, 42 years old, and I’ve lived here my whole life. I love this city just as much as you do. I’m not a social media guy at all, and I’m not trying to be. I just enjoy watching some of your videos—and a few others—showing affordable places to eat around Vegas. I appreciate people who genuinely care about this city and the people in it. I work for RTC Paratransit here in Las Vegas. Every day, I help people with ADA disabilities get where they need to go. I’m reaching out today not for myself, and not for money—but for my mom. My mother was a school teacher for 15 years before an accident caused her to lose her job. She’s a single mother who has spent her entire life taking care of others. She also adopted my sister’s children when they were very young and raised them in her home. One of them, Aliyona, is now 18 and working at McDonald’s. Adrien is 15 and still in school. The kids are grown now and much more conscious about taking care of things, but the house itself has taken a toll over the years. My mom doesn’t have the money to fix it. Teachers don’t make much, and her pension after 15 years is only $994 a month. I help as much as I can, but I’m only one person. On top of that, I’m also caring for my sister and currently trying to seek guardianship for her, as she has a disability as well. The house just needs some love. Doors are falling apart, the backyard is a mess, and the home itself is worn down from years of raising kids with very little help. If you were to see it, you’d understand exactly what I mean. I know you’ve helped a lot of people in this city, and I’m simply asking—if there’s any way you or people you know could help bring this home back to life for my mom. She’s looked after children her entire life, and I just want her to be able to live the rest of her days happy and comfortable. If it’s not something you can help with, I completely understand.
