Honestly, the fact you’re transparent about being a young family helps. Because at a hotel, yes I expect silence. At an airbnb with a portion rented out by a family? I expect noise lol

I honestly think a solid door would help, and it wouldn’t hurt to try a blanket at the top of the stairs. But if the bedroom is pretty quiet with the current soundproofing that’s the most important thing for guests because it prevents them from being woken up. Once they are up, what’s a little background noise of kids playing or a young family living?!

The muffled sounds wouldn’t bother me at all. I live with my nearly 2 year old niece who has night terrors here and there and I sleep right through them. 🤷🏻♀️

I could hear it, but at least you’re being transparent and it does sound better with the soundproofing. A solid door would help and maybe also hanging the soundproofing curtain at the top of the steps as well.
