@thewellbeingscientist: This video is not about demonizing any one individual, company, or innovation and it is not claiming how health data is being used behind the scenes. What this is about is why, in an era of rapid health tech and AI expansion, we need to be more critical than ever about who is backing these technologies, what incentives are at play, and what happens once our biometric health data leaves our control. As a population health and wellbeing researcher, I believe proactive healthcare and innovation can be powerful. But technologies are never neutral. They are shaped by the values, interests, and systems that produce them. Rather than asking only “is this service good or bad?” we also need to ask who benefits, who bears the risk, and who is accountable when things go wrong especially when private health data intersects with already overburdened public healthcare systems and front-line workers.
