People are so dramatic on social media I swear. Law will be fine. Lawyers will make more money. There will end up being more lawyers than ever. AI is just another tool amongst many tools. It needs oversight like any other tool out there. Stop listening to AI CEOs they are just trying to sell more AI

I think justifying $800 an hour for doc review, will be long gone. However, trial work and “retail law” will still need people. Big law will modify, and will not voluntarily decrease their profit per partner. They will absolutely find a new item to bill for…

You are aware that AI will never replace the job of an attorney. Ai can’t go into court and argue cases, the most Ai could do is administrative and quick research. Will their be less jobs due to the surge of law school applicants of course but that is a risk some are willing to take

Whenever I consider leaving family law, which requires a lot of court and a lot of emotional intelligence which can be draining, I think of the toll AI is going to take all parts of law but especially transactional law

People made this argument wrt earlier tech advancements that made lawyers mor efficient, and they were wrong. What happened was just more lawyering. Why won’t this be the same? Just more deals, more litigation.

I absolutely agree. My wife is in North Carolina and used ChatGPT to represent herself in family court fighting against her ex-husband who lives in Utah. She did all the legal work through ChatGPT, on her own, and prevailed against the lawyer her ex-husband retained.

When Ai gets better then Ai arbitrations will be the big thing and you don’t need an attorney for that

I agree but so many more people are suing because of AI so more defense lawyers are needed to defend all the suits!

There will be fewer big law hires, but if you are hired by big law, it may well be your work will be more interesting and rewarding. From your first year, you will be managing 20 or 30 agents undertaking a broad range of functions across a broad area of law and legal services. I think it’s a great time for students coming out of top law schools with strong grades.
