Tricksters are totally a thing and they will absolutely lie about what they are and their intentions, but the only reason they would get mistaken for a deity is because their target assumed they were a deity. At most they will lie and say they're there their to help guide you when they're actually there for the free energy buffet. We have stories upon stories about what happens to people who claim to stand equal or above the gods. Someone's lying spirit pappy is going to get curb stomped for impersonating a God.

In my experience, trickster spirits are real. I had a spirit, a ghost that followed me home from the cemetary that pretended to be my guardian dragon and even pretended to be baset, Lucifer, loki, and Azazel. I eventually got in touch with real deities who are now helping me to get rid of this ghost. He pretended to be those spirits to get close to me. I will say though that trickster spirits don't act like the personality of the entity they are pretending to be. When they pretend to be a god, something isn't quite right. They can't/won't give you useful information, they can't give you divine messages from other people such as psychic readings. Loki sends me a lot of readings so I know its him talking to me. Lastly, they can not help you manifest good things in life. If they are around long enough things start to go sour. So yeah, there are spirits that trick people to gain some form of power and recognition.

Just information you what to know demons and fallen angel's can impersonate any person they want to from family and friends to other spirit beings that's how they deceive people to take there spirit or get you to offer other people's spirit are you just end up getting possessed by what ever demon or fallen angel your working with that's just what them evil beings do throughout the cosmic universe from the beginning of time so don't work with them evil spirit beings because there just not some weak trickster spirit

Okay question, bc genuinely confused and have heard so much mixed info. There are people who call upon a god, and do not end up talking to the god, but with something else instead. What do you call that? Usually happens when they don't invoke correctly, but this happens a lot, especially to new pagans. One of the worse stories was a someone reaching out to a diety, didn't invoke properly, and was told through divination to offer things that the diety didn't actually want. Is that just spiritual psychosis or what?
