After being discharged home, it became clear that he was sent home unsafely. Our home health nurse said it plainly today: without the proper equipment, medical support, and rehabilitation, his body cannot heal the way it needs to. He is very weak, unable to safely move or care for himself, and the equipment we need simply isn’t available at home. We are now pushing hard for inpatient rehabilitation so he can receive the care, therapy, and bariatric-appropriate equipment necessary for recovery and dignity. This has been scary, exhausting, and humbling. I am doing everything I can to advocate for him, but the reality is that healing takes time, resources, and support.
