I need your honest opinion. Today I received a video of a kitten that had reportedly been fed alcohol. Watching him struggle broke my heart. My first instinct is always the same: rescue, rush to the vet, and do whatever it takes to save another life. But I already care for around 150 cats, including several ongoing medical cases. Every day I worry about food, medication, vet bills, and keeping the shelter running. I am one person, not an organization, not a team. Many people say, “Please save him.” Some may help with the first vet visit, but what happens after that? Who pays for blood tests, treatment, vaccines, food, follow-up care, and emergencies? Who takes responsibility if no foster or adopter is found? The answer is usually the rescuer. So I want to ask something honestly: If I brought this kitten to your door today, would you take him in? Would you cover the medical bills? Would you commit to caring for him if his recovery takes months? Because this is the decision rescuers face every day. My heart says yes. Reality says I am already beyond my limits. I am trying to save this kitten, but I also need help keeping the shelter open and caring for the 150 cats already depending on me. Without support, saying yes to one more life could put many others at risk. What would you do?
