Javanese political culture places a very high value on hierarchy and harmony. That works well for social stability, but in government it often produces slow decision-making, excessive consensus-seeking, and over bureaucracy. Indonesia today needs leaders who are willing to cut through hierarchy, accept conflict, and be judged by results, not symbolism. if Chinese decent can't be a leader then our Minang ,Batak or bugis brother are more relevant for those traits we needs..

The problem is that it breeds nepotism and corruption from discouraged whistleblowing . The discouraged criticism breeds complacency and the problem explodes after damage is done.

less frictions for the elites, which also mean less check and balances..this seem fine for certain amount of time but not sustainable for democracy..grass roots people will fell left behind as the gap of prosperity grows..finally the cycle happens, chaos and riots will occure..while the elites try to form another type of fresh personel

If we look back to history of kingdoms in Sumatera, we will find that Sumatera Kingdoms was more like united nation. Several independent kingdoms agreed (willingly or not) to join the Empire which conquered them.

demokrasi Indonesia lahir dari tiga tradisi: hukum adat, islam, dan sosialisme. Ketiganya punya kesamaan yang sama: MUSYAWARAH. Ga cuma di Jawa aja, hukum adat lainnya menempatkan musyawarah adat sebagai lembaga tertinggi adat. Begitu juga demokrasi Islam, lihat awal-awal pemilihan Khalifah setelah Rasulullah wafat semua dengan musyawarah. Sosialisme jg mengambil jalan musyawarah sebagai lembaga tertinggi pengambilan keputusan Beda dengan demokrasi barat yang lahir dari hak individu lalu ke sistem one man one vote. Sayangnya, sistem kita yang niatnya baik dijalankan dengan kurang baik sehingga berpindah dari musyawarah ke one man one vote

I think you forgot to mention that in 2016, oppositions gathered & nearly toppled the elected president. that's the extreme pendulum of having oppositions, with grudges & deep pockets.
