@therussellmichelle: Disadvantages of PreFab Container Homes I’ve lived in a Prefab Container house for 13 months and I DON’T recommend purchasing these units They are not as sturdy as actual shipping containers The roofs tend to leak requiring you to build a new roof over the existing roof or at least to add roof sheets over the roof The floors are not sturdy so will need to be reinforced The walls are too weak to hold heavy objects such as cabinets unless you use a special method. But even then, be careful not to affix anything too heavy The electrical outlets that come with the unit are flimsy and randomly ignite easily. You must change them all The cost to make the unit more sturdy, and to reduce leaking and electrical issues reduces the benefits of buying the prefab unit. I recommend just building a small home from an actual shipping container (which is much more sturdy) or from wood or concrete board as the cost eventually works out the same Most sellers of these units have not actually lived in one so they will ‘upsell’ its benefits Take it from me, having actually lived in one for more than a year, they are not worth it, except for a short term transition while you await something else #Home #containerhouse #container #prefabcontainerhomes
