I moved back to SA from New Zealand for the same reason. Been waiting for my surgery to be booked, it will be a year soon that I am still waiting for them to call.

Healthcare in South Africa is under valued. Yes I was on a top medical aid plan that cost me an arm and a leg, but whenever my family needed a Dr or hospital we were helped immediately. Here is Australia you need to go to the Gp first and get a recommendation letter and then only go to the specialist which is a massive waiting list. Don't get me started on hospitals....

Went to see my GP today in South Africa. Got an injection. Then X-rays. X-ray report was compiled and sent to GP. Report explained to me. Script written and I got medicine from the pharmacy. All this took a mere 90 minutes.
