@samantha.home.aesthetic: I had zero prior experience with this level of construction, but using a custom range hood kit from Archways And Ceilings made the entire process feel so much more doable. The kit is basically an adult puzzle, custom-built to fit my kitchen, which took a lot of the overwhelm out of the project. I did some interior framing to fit the insert I chose, added drywall and drywall mud (surprisingly easy), and finished everything with micro cement for that seamless, custom look.
