Converted from a 747-400, the Global Supertanker could drop 19,600 gallons (163,503 lbs) of fire retardant or water in a single pass, nearly 10x more than a typical air tanker. Operated by Global Supertanker Services (GTS), it entered service in 2016 and flew missions across the United States, Chile, Israel, and Bolivia, responding to some of the largest wildfires on Earth. Cruise speed: 560 mph Drop speed: ~150–160 knots Range: 7,200+ miles Pressurized tank system allowed variable drops and even high-altitude operations. Retired in 2021 after the company shut down, ending the era of widebody supertanker firefighting. those tanker pilots take old planes that airlines wouldnt want and fly them in ways that fighter pilots wouldnt dare. if you give a fire tanker pilot a dc3 and a bucket, he'll have that thing moving like an a10 that just got a broken arrow call
