My father no longer wants to support my brother’s and my education. My brother is in Grade 12, and I’m in Grade 10. Our mother doesn’t have a job, so providing us with a good education has become even more difficult. It hurts because it feels like everything is somehow being blamed on me. Sometimes, I’m made to feel unwanted, as if I’m the reason for all the problems, as if I’m difficult to love, or as if I have no worth at all. But the truth is, I’m just a teenager, still learning, still growing, and still trying to figure out life. I’m not perfect, and I know I make mistakes, but that doesn’t mean I deserve to be made to feel like I’m a burden. I have dreams, fears, and feelings just like everyone else. More than anything, I want understanding, support, and a chance to build a better future for myself. I may be young, but I carry worries that sometimes feel far too heavy for someone my age. Even so, I’m doing my best to stay strong. I hope that one day, people will see that I’m not the problem, I’m simply a young person trying to navigate life while carrying more than I should have to.
