I’d say it depends on what you’re after as Scott and Kip offer reassurance & Shane and Ilya demand endurance and reflection. Neither are wrong but people tend to go with the story that asks less of them & Shane & Ilya’s story is less comforting than Scott & Kip’s where the story is easier to root for without sitting in prolonged ambiguity or internal conflict.

I highly recommend reading the whole series. I see it spoken about less but I loved Tough Guy as well as a fan favorite Role Model in the series!
