I cannot believe the time we are living in. Listening to Donald Trump threaten to invade Greenland, claiming Denmark stole it 500 years ago (Does anyone want to tell him about the history of the USA?). Seeing footage of ICE ripping people out of cars and homes. I am afraid to say that if you support that, you are not one of the good guys. And if the polls are to be believed, it's heading here too. A politics of division. A party funded by the same people who brought us Trump who are already dropping comments about abortion limits and same-sex marriage. Pay attention. You might even say it is already here, with Labour bragging about deportations, trying to steal votes by leaning into the same dehumanising rhetoric rather than challenging it. My Jewish friends are scared because of rising antisemitism. My Muslim friends are scared because of rising Islamophobia. My trans friends are scared because of lies suggesting trans people are a threat to women and girls. They are not. Saying that Black Lives Matter isn't controversial. Women are scared as male violence against women and girls continues to rise. We are told not to judge and to respect all opinions. That it's just banter. No. We should be judging hate. We should be judging cruelty. We should be judging systems that harm people. This is not left versus right, right versus wrong. #fyp
