My grandparents lived through the depression. If ever a time to give up on banks, yet they didn’t. They did keep a bankers money envelope under the mattress with a couple grand (1970s) yet banks insured. If your husband thinks the United States is going to fail, well that I don’t have an answer for. I do have a friend where hubby saved up cash for a corvette in a shoebox in his closet. Kept a secret over 35 years. He had health emergency and when he came to said hey, if I unalive, don’t throw out anything in my closet with checking everything. $57,000. SMH; what if a fire happened!

Here's the thing....if the banks all collapse and everyone loses whateve they had in their accounts... well. if that happens then having unless you have some other universal currency available, it won't matter. If the banks went down, that would mean every level of the economy would collapse. So put in in an IRA or put cash in coffee cans and bury it on your property.
