Her was committing parricide.. a crime punishable by death… you watch your father, mother, cousin, aunt and entire city massacred because of your so called father… and he lives happily with his new wife, do y’all know the trauma and nightmares something like that comes with? He tried his best to expose him legally but he reached a dead end.. should he break his oath to those who died to fulfill a new oath to her for his own happiness? What kind of man would that make him? If he had married her and committed a crime, her whole family would’ve been implicated.. they would’ve either been killed or demoted and she would remain a widow forever.. he didn’t betray her.. he tried his best to not drag her down with him.. this was the only move he could’ve made at that time

He wasn’t wrong to do what he did… it really was at his whits end. What I respected however was her standing by what she vowed to him. She knew he didn’t have a choice hence why she helped cleared his name in court while he was unconscious. But she had to remain true to herself and abandoned him as he did her. She left that man for five years! She cut off him, her family and everyone and locked herself in the palace with the empress. They both did what they had to and that what makes the one of the best cdrama period ‼️

I understand him, he wants to protect her and what I love abt him is that the love didn’t blind him to take revenge and I salute him for that he set aside his feelings although it hurts him to abandon her what he did is right he don’t want ti implicate her and her family. The fact also that he didn’t chase her after he abandon her and respect his decision. He went to northwestern and atone his wrongdoings, he regret everything. He didn’t force her to comeback yet she comeback to him herself. I love them! Best CDRAMA so far!🫶🏻😌
