A larger portion of women are attractive compared with men. If women’s standards didn’t vary, many men would end up single. I see stunning women every single day, but I could count on my hands how many attractive men I’ve seen in my life

i think its because women have to think more about what’s behind the picture than men do, when a woman sees a man she asks herself “what type of man is he” while when a man sees a woman he can js rate how attractive she is physically, generally speaking of course this isn’t universally true

men usually have a rather objective overall type and love agreeing with their peers. women sometimes see one specific attractive feature that they like in a guy and if that’s what they go for they will find him attractive overall and their friends will not agree. also if a woman looks good overall men sometimes oversee little details but for women those can be dealbreaker while others find that the exact same feature actually makes him look better. just talking from my experience

What’s not spoken here is that women’s ratings were all significantly lower of men than men’s ratings of women. Women might have more variance but the scores are just lower overall. Men have less variance but everyone is more attractive. Men’s version is much more preferable.

Probably a status or lived experience thing. Markers of status (height, race, clothing, subculture identification) and whether you think the person is attainable/loyal/agreeable (politics) probably plays a part, even if it’s not a fully conscious mode of thought.
