@drewwdaniels: Unavoidable realities for Avoidant Partners 1. You will lose some control/individuality. To truly support another persons well-being, it means sometimes putting our control to the side. Sometimes it means caring about our “togetherness” more than our individuality. 2. Rejecting intimacy is draining You will spend more energy and time resisting intimacy than simply surrendering to it. Self protection is extremely expensive. 3. Reconnection is earned through behavior change. Sometimes Avoidant Partners just want forgiveness. this desire is not wrong! What makes it not based in reality is if we expect our partner to look past our mistakes. As avoidant partners we can simultaneously grieve the acceptance and forgiveness we don’t have- while also being respectful to earn trust back that we’ve lost. #avoidant #avoidantattachment #anxiousattachment #anxious #relationshiphealing
not until your actions communicate that you are sorry, until your actions communicate that you choose differently. sorry is not enough to create the safety needed for connection. change is the minimum.

This is the best video addressing and advising avoidants I have seen, and I admittedly have watched at least 100 of them the past two weeks.

I knew my partner has avoidant tendencies but I didn’t know how deep they were until after a year he said he needed some time to sort out what/how he is feeling. After an incredible night, connected, caring, intimate and normal contact until he said he needed space. I have compassion and want to work with his tendencies and needs, as well as my own. But I don’t know how - especially since he’s taken a breather. There’s definitely love, but I’m worried he’ll choose “safety” over connection.
