On no.3, what's your opinion on dealership parts advisors? My wife's Cr-v failed a vehicle inspection at the Honda dealership for rusty brakes and tried selling her new brakes. We declined and took it to a trusted local shop that passed the inspection and told us it was normal surface rust (we live in Vermont). Didn't have to do brakes till the year after.

I’ve been buying the absolute cheapest parts on Amazon and eBay for all my cars for decades and never had a problem. There just isn’t that many auto parts factories in the world that manufacture shocks, for instance, for there to be dozens of different choices and prices. Most of them come from the same factory and the differences from one part to another is paint or packaging or marketing. Buy by price and pocket the savings.

I used to wrench, manage shop. Worst I heard is when I started working for a fleet management company. Worst I heard was a shop told one of our drivers that her cabin filter was so clogged that is she drove with the windows up she would suffocate!

I took my truck to a mechanic here in Pueblo I spent 2300 to have all parts replaced on my 2003 Cadillac EXT front end. I was wondering if your shop could look it over I don’t think they put all new parts on or they did it incorrectly.

A lot of manufacturers say lifetime fluid. Then you look at ZF or Aisin’s site for example and they say 60-70 or 40-60k
