With all due respect, this is the most that the federal government can do in a way. The real threat is capitalism, but leaders arent willing to admit that. Its monopolies and elites who choose to gouge you for their products. Both the Liberal and Conservative governments wont do anything because they ARE the elites. Grocers love these rebates. They just increase prices to eat up these “handouts”. And those of us who don’t get a GST rebate keep paying for it. It’s a vicious cycle. A strong economy is measured by how few people need assistance, not how many receive it.
