As an A320 pilot, this is not when we would usually want to activate the secondary, and not when you would declare a mayday. You have an engine fire that could get worse. We start the ECAM actions almost immediately after passing 400’ AGL, in the meantime you pull heading. Once the engine is secure, you can activate the secondary and fly the engine out, and that’s when you would declare and give the attention crew at station. Fly Navigate Communicate. You focus on flying, PM does the ECAM.
