Mine is Little Rabbit. She sits on my head in full plate armor and when she gets too scared the armor rattles so loud it's hard to think (intrusive thoughts). She just needs someone to tell her the scary thing isn't actually scary.

"calling it out" has been so helpful. and I'm so grateful for people like you who give information about OCD. to think there was a time when I completely felt crazy and had no idea it was OCD

Working hard on this right now. My OCD is soooo good at convincing me it’s there to protect me but I can tell by the way I feel it is only hurting me.

After many years of therapy, I know my OCD tricks well and I manage most of them, but the one that still gets me during the warmer months is brain eating amoeba. The summer months here in the south are absolute hell for me, especially when it comes to my young kids playing in the water.

Also a licensed therapist. When your thoughts get sticky, re focus on something you enjoy. You take that focus on your thoughts and transfer to something useful.

IFS work with this is amazing. It helps to get to know it and show it compassion, and recognize that it started to protect us but that it’s no longer needed.

How can I learn how to do this with past memories and false memories? Because I feel that personally those feel a lot more connected to me. My first therapy appointment is this week and I’m hoping for the best.
