Just remember that there is no right or wrong as long as your baby is happy and fed. Take the path that will cause you the least amount of stress. All of this is a lot harder on you than it is on him and I know that that doesn't make it any easier but hopefully it's helpful to hear. You got this mama!

I’m in this SAME boat with our second. Currently trying to rule out the foremilk hindmilk thing and it’s so hard because I feel like it’s not something that you can easily fix because it’s just how our bodies produce milk. Just know your feelings are so valid! It’s emotional to not be able to feed the way you had hoped. you’re doing great, mama! Prayers for your lactation appointment!

I struggled for months thinking my girl had CMPA but we deduced that my letdown was just super strong and she was a little sensitive to food I ate but no CMPA! She outgrew it and we are still bf at 15 months

In a similar situation with my 6 month old - he just does better with bottles and doesn’t love nursing. It’s heartbreaking for me but he’s still getting breastmilk and thriving. I have definitely been mourning the loss of exclusively BFing but he’s happy and we’ve gotten back to nursing 1-3 times per day.

It’s so hard but you’re doing great! I loved the Legendairy Milk pumping spray. Truly saved my nips through 8 months of EP. Also making sure flange size is correct but your LC should help you there ☺️

Exclusively pumped for 13 months with my son and the key to not having sore nipples was having the correct flange size on my pumps - turns out my nipples were two different sizes too so that made the biggest difference!

I suggest mixing all of your pumped milk in one container and then bagging, if you’re not doing that already! That way all of the fore milk and hind milk is mixed and balanced out for each bottle.

I had the same experience but for different reasons. I never wanted to be an exclusively pumping mom but the fussiness at the breast was so so much harder.

you’re an amazing mom 🥰 The biggest thing that helped me with soreness while pumping was I bought a nipple gauge (Amazon) and got pump flanges that were the correct size. It was night and day difference for comfort while pumping. My doula told me basically no one is the size the flanges come in.

Oh hugs girl 🥺 breastfeeding can be so tricky and adjusting to pumping after being exclusively bf is emotionally so difficult. I hope a LC can help get things back on track 🫶🏼

NICU mom here - exclusively pumping and bottle feeding is a bummer, that’s what I do. BUT it does allow mom a lot more freedom. I use portables and just pump while I bottle feed to save time!

This same exact thing happened with my baby. Started with foamy stools and then she got full on hysterical trying to nurse. It ended up being the foremilk / hind milk issue combined with a super strong letdown that made her really upset. I would pre pump and nurse at an incline and it helped. She grew out of it fairly quickly as she got stronger and my supply regulated. It was really stressful but temporary!

I exclusively pump for my 3 month old. He has terrible reflux and would projectile during every breastfeeding due to being on his back (the only way he would latch). Switched to exclusively pumping (and reflux meds) and he’s been so much better. Still has to be vertical to eat, and it was hard on me, but we do what we have to for our babies! ❤️
