I tested 5-minute, 6-minute, and 7-minute eggs, boiling them all together and removing one at a time to compare texture, firmness, and yolk doneness. You can really see how much changes with each minute: At 5 minutes, the egg is extremely soft, the whites are barely set and the yolk is very delicate. At 6 minutes, the white has just enough structure while the yolk stays perfectly runny.
