When you go into the IEP meeting... go voice off to start the meeting and see how thy react. They can't communicate with you so how do thy think Paxton can?! Praying so hard for you especially on Friday! 🤟🏻 from one iep momma to another (mine is T1D) stay strong! ♥️

I’m a soon to be retired Teacher of the Deaf and always thinking what can I do when I retire. This is a great idea. Can I ask what state you’re in?

They are violating his IEP and if he has a 504 plan they are violating that ad well. Talk to a lawyer.

As someone who works directly with the IEP process, I would recommend documenting (through email starting now) any type of missed communication on the bus! They will want data to support that request!

As a school bus driver, I would refuse to drive that bus without an interpreter. My heart goes out to you because that’s both frustrating and possibly scary for everyone!

Do you know any of the other parents ?? Maybe yall could rally together !! That seems like common sense to have someone able to communicate with the children ! Your concerns are so valid mama !

Definitely document every meeting and put it in email form. There is great advocate services like pave and a common voice in Washington state.

are you able to get in contact with ANY of the other parents whose kids also ride that bus? Talk to them ask them to come and help support you and speak to them as well, the more support from other families/the community you have the more pressure the board will feel to get an interpreter on that bus!! Let us know how it goes girl!!

Yay mom! So happy to see you advocate for the babies! As a CODA, I spend a lot of time advocating for my own parents still in day to day and I’m 31. It just goes over peoples heads. So good on you!

As an interpreter we struggle with this in our district. But also can’t see how we could provide an interpreter on the bus😩 I’ll be watching your page for updates on this!

You can go to school board meetings for his bus company too! I had to do that for my son with his IEP in hand! It was fixed within a week.

From the IEP side it should not be hard to get it added. The logic reason and language of the accommodation would be easy to add. The pain point would be fighting the school district around how long it takes them to make this happen. But 1000 get it in writing in the IEP. If it is just a promise from the school that means nothing. IEP is a contract between the family, school, and school district that all parties have to abide by.
