Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma reportedly argues that in a democracy, laws and court rulings should be open to review when they no longer reflect the concerns of the people, even when those decisions come from the Constitutional Court. But democracy does not mean court judgments can simply be ignored because some people disagree with them. South Africa is a constitutional democracy governed by the rule of law, not by threats, intimidation or public pressure. The Constitutional Court is the highest court in South Africa, and its decisions are binding. While laws can be amended and judgments can be reconsidered through lawful procedures in appropriate circumstances, nobody is above the Constitution. Jacinta must understand that public dissatisfaction does not automatically invalidate a court ruling. If she believes something should change, she must pursue the proper legal and democratic channels. You can challenge a law, you can campaign for change, but you cannot simply disregard a binding court order because you dislike the outcome. #southafrica #Namibia #nigeria #usa
