why do we NEVER talk about what an avoidant can do to get better? understand that their childhood does not have to define their life forever?? its always how the rest of us can tip toe around an avoidant and keep allowing them to "feed" their trauma🙄

My boyfriend says he feels numb about the relationship now. He hasn't brought up a break up or he hasn't said if he still wants us. The worst part is that he talks to me like I'm his casual friend and it's hurting me so badly because I have an anxious attachment. And I know he just needs space but I feel like I'm slowly getting over the relationship. I still love him but I feel empty and exhausted. If I decide to wait for him, what if he doesn't want the relationship anymore after leaving?

Let me save you some time: if you're dating an avoidant, then stop right now. Simply move on. If they come back, lay down the law and tell them what you will and will not accept (provided you'll even want them back once the dust settled).
