🌊🕯️ Madame Sodium's Seawater Ancestor Calling Ritual Honouring the Maternal and Paternal Ancestors, Known and Unknown This ritual is intended as a moment of remembrance, reflection, and connection with those who came before you. Adapt the words in a way that aligns with your own spiritual traditions and beliefs. What You Will Need A bowl of seawater (or clean water with a pinch of sea salt if seawater is unavailable) One white candle A white cloth A small offering of gratitude (such as water, tea, bread, fruit, or flowers) A quiet place where you will not be disturbed Preparing the Space Spread the white cloth before you. Place the bowl of seawater in the centre, the candle behind it, and your offering beside it. Light the candle and sit quietly for a few moments. Take three deep breaths and place your hands over the bowl of seawater. Opening Prayer Say: "I stand here today in humility and respect. I call upon my ancestors of the maternal line and the paternal line, those whose names I know and those whose names have been forgotten by time. I honour those who walked before me, those whose sacrifices made my life possible, and those who continue to watch over our family in spirit. Come only in love, wisdom, truth, and divine light. May only those who wish for my highest good draw near." The Prayer for Trespasses and Reconciliation Dip your fingertips into the seawater and gently touch your forehead and heart. Say: "If there are trespasses committed knowingly or unknowingly, by me, by my family, or by those who came before me, I ask for understanding, forgiveness, and peace. May hurt be healed. May resentment be released. May what has been broken be restored through grace. Let the waters carry away bitterness and open the path to reconciliation and blessing." Calling the Ancestors Place your hands over the bowl and say: "Ancestors of my mother's blood, Ancestors of my father's blood, elders known and unknown, I call upon you with reverence. Walk beside me in wisdom. Guide me with discernment. Strengthen me where I am weak. Protect me where I am vulnerable. Teach me what I need to know. May your blessings flow through me like the endless tides of the sea." Sit quietly for several minutes. Listen to your thoughts, emotions, memories, or impressions without forcing an experience. Offering of Gratitude Lift the offering slightly and say: "I thank you for your presence, your guidance, and the gifts passed through generations. May you rest in peace and dignity. May your names be honoured, whether remembered by many or known only to the Creator." Place the offering back down. Closing the Ritual Take a small amount of the seawater and touch your forehead, heart, and hands. Say: "With gratitude, I close this sacred moment. Return in peace to your rightful place. May there be harmony between the living and the departed. I walk forward carrying wisdom, not fear; blessings, not burdens; love, not division. And so it is." Allow the candle to burn for a few more moments before extinguishing it. Dispose of the seawater respectfully by returning it to the earth, pouring it into flowing water, or pouring it at the base of a healthy tree. 🌊 Ancestor Affirmation "I honour those who came before me. I receive their wisdom with gratitude, release what no longer serves, and walk my path with courage, dignity, and peace."
