@virginmedia_television: “I used to feel like I was throwing a baby in the bin.” Steve explains what it was like living with severe Harm OCD, and how intrusive thoughts took over everyday moments. We all think we know what OCD looks like - cleaning, checking and counting. But the reality is darker, messier, and far more misunderstood. And he knows this is logically impossible but it’s that little bit of doubt that stops you in your tracks.

THIS IS REAL OCD THANK YOU!!! I absolutely hate when people say “omg I’m so ocd😜” when they have no clue how debilitating it actually is. I have contamination OCD and even when I know my house is clean and spotless I still think there are germ infestations everywhere, I have to do the same task 100 times to feel satisfied, if I don’t get satisfaction I go back and do it again. I can’t even walk into my home in outside clothes they come off at the door because the clothes are contaminated. Anything that has left my home is contaminated and can’t come in. It’s actually a debilitating condition

Sadly, This is true OCD. I was diagnosed age twelve. the worst culprit is the OCD intrusive thoughts. You can practically feel the wrong message ;for example, thinking you ran over something , the brain tricks you into thinking it really happened, and you just repeatedly check but get no satisfaction 😞

OCD is so debilitating and it's reduced to so little. was the worst it's been after the passing of a friend and you have to just be against every thought and feeling to get better

I used to have pretty bad OCD but I learnt to deal with it and I don't have it now. It wasn't as bad as this but I used to be like every time I heard a word I didn't like such as the word cancer I'd keep putting my fingers in my ears and then take them out again. I had to do it a certain amount of times and if I didn't I'd be scared I'd get cancer or someone in my family would. It very takes over your life

OCD is not known at all. It’s a condition that impacts the whole family. It’s tormenting. As a parent, I’ve felt so helpless. People poopoo it. But when it’s severe it prevents you from living your life, and those close to you. But long therapy can be of help. It requires a lot of consistent work and stamina from you though.
