My heart breaks for David Reimer. What was done to him is unforgivable. His whole life was stolen from him. I hope he did find some kind of happiness with his wife but it’s just inexcusable what he went through.

This was a botched circumcision on an infant, not a “gender reassignment”. I read the book. The baby’s parents took some doctor’s advice and tried to convince the child that he was a girl. Of course that didn’t work. This post misrepresents the tragic story of a doctor’s tragic mistake.
