@doctor.asky: Cardiogenic shock, when a failing heart pulls the entire body down with it Cardiogenic shock happens when the heart becomes too weak to pump enough blood to keep the body alive. It most often follows a major heart attack that severely damages the heart muscle. Once the heart can’t push blood properly, oxygen and nutrients fail to reach vital organs like the brain, kidneys, and liver, and these organs begin to shut down. The symptoms appear suddenly and can be terrifying. Breathing speeds up, weakness sets in, and the heartbeat turns fast yet faint. Blood pressure drops to dangerous levels, while the skin becomes cold, pale, and sweaty. As oxygen delivery to the brain decreases, a person might feel dizzy, confused, or even lose consciousness. The situation quickly worsens as the struggling heart causes further damage throughout the body. Without fast hospital treatment, this chain reaction can become fatal. Doctors must act immediately to boost heart function and restore blood flow, using medications, oxygen, or mechanical pumps. Even with advanced care, recovery is difficult, and every second counts once cardiogenic shock begins.
