She is amazing. Huge fan of Audible & educator/administrator here. Read and talk to children from the start; engage with them; as they grow, listen to them read & talk about what they're reading: Non-fiction (high-interest by magazines & blogs); fiction (select novels together at a public library); graphic novels- reading is reading! Listen to and talk about audiobooks, podcasts & TedTalks. Share the balance- let them read & listen to what they love, knowing at times they'll need to read things that might not be high interest to them. If they struggle with reading, @Audible is an excellent tool to grow readers & support struggling readers. Have them follow along with a high-interest novel in hand & arm them with Post-It notes- make it an active process (they can pause/think/write a question): the child becomes a reader, feeling accomplished, actually finishing a book: engaging with the text, asking questions, connecting with characters, building background knowledge & empathy, increasing vocabulary & fluency, thinking/connecting/comprehending. It's magical. 🪄 It changed my life! ♥️
