ICE isn’t the governement. They are an agency whose main function is to protect us from criminals who come into this country. They aren’t the whole government. They have a very small job in the big picture. So if everybody could let that small job get done, then it would never get out of hand. That’s not to say that ICE is perfect or never makes mistakes, because they do. But they aren’t “treading” on any of us or our rights. Their job is to uphold laws that have been around for decades. Would you yell at a McDonalds worker for their prices going up? Of course not because it’s not in their power. It’s the same thing here….call the actual law makers if you don’t like immigration laws

"Don't tread on me" was not a rejection of government power. It was rejecting the government overstepping its authority on its own CITIZENS. They believed in borders, law enforcement and sovereignty. What they opposed was coercion without representation, not the existence of the state. What you describe is not "treading". You cannot equate enforcement with tyranny simply because it's uncomfortable, especially when you're talking about enforcement of those outside the social contract aka non citizens.

I feel like we forgot the government works for us and that blindly following/adoring politicians is antithetical to democracy (which used to be a core tenant of repubs btw, small government, state-ruled, less involvement in our day to day).

I agree with this! The scary thing about MAGA is that they blindly listen to anything their leader says and they’re not willing to think critically for themselves. For example thinking January 6th was okay (violent riot with weapons) but then thinking it’s justified for a citizen legally carrying a weapon to get murdered when he wasn’t even holding it? The hypocrisy and inability to think critically & instead blindly following a leader is how we end up in dictatorship & it’s scary

To see someone that I consider in the “golf space” speak on this is such a relief. The unfortunate thing following golf creators and being a golfer myself, is most people around you at the course and creators are conservative and will not speak on anything no matter how bad things get.
