We’re charging for time this is what people aren’t understanding. The moment you sit in our chair you’re paying for rent, overheads, wages, super, gst etc. everything that’s required for the salon to open its doors. I have to charge at least $150 per hour in my tiny home salon to even break even. So imagine what it’s like for a shop. It’s not just a tiny “snip” if you want a dry trim with no extras, go to just cuts or somewhere that’s cheap.

Literally and they’ll charge an extra $15 for “long hair” … girl you’re just trimming my ends? Why does it matter if my hair is long??

Why are people defending the cost like their life depends on it?? $130 for a DRY TRIM CUT IS EXPLOITING THE CUSTOMER

A haircut last you 12 or more weeks, nails last you 2-3 weeks. Tell me what doesn’t make sense with the price?

It’s covering the business expense depending on location the rent, electric bills etc all go into the price plus wages, insurance, social media marketing, education etc is all in the rate you pay. Yes it’s cheaper elsewhere depending on the business expenses and what they need to be earning every hour it’s not just a trim but I understand from a client perspective it’s a lot from a business owner perspective it is normal to cover those things to stay running. Not to mention the scissors are paid by the stylists wages they cost thousands sometimes hundreds if you’re lucky. I suggest finding someone who fits your budget they will have less expenses and bills to cover and you get a cheaper price that way you’re both winning. Also ask for a quote before if they don’t quote you already. Not saying that $130 for a dry trim isn’t expensive, my work only charges $60 but before you slander prices please realise it’s not a random number made up it has all expenses taken into account for the time it takes for the stylist to do a service which varies depending on so many things. I hate how prices have to be too I’ve done hair since cuts used to be $30 and I remember when I worked somewhere boujee but their prices were worth it. I learnt so much and that’s how I learnt sometimes you get what you pay for you should’ve seen my work before working somewhere boujee it was so bad 😂😂 thank god they paid good education lol was sending everyone out wonky because tafe teaches not a lot

You’re not just paying for a “trim” you’re paying for years of experience, skill, and expertise. When pricing is structured correctly, it reflects the true cost of running a salon and delivering quality work.
