@madssdoug: What my 6 month old ate today 🥄 Swipe to see what was offered vs what was eaten A look at today’s nutrient exposure & food exploration Just like adults, babies appetite changes day to day, especially after big sensory experiences. We’re practising responsive feeding alongside baby-led weaning. Milk feeds remain her primary nutrition; solids are about skill development, sensory learning and exposure. Not pictured are milk feeds and water offered post meal. 🍳 Breakfast • Omelette with spinach — offering protein and iron exposure, plus vitamins that support immune and brain development • Banana with coconut oat yoghurt — energy, fats and early exposure to dairy-free yoghurt textures • Mashed blackberries with hemp seeds — hemp seeds provide non-heme iron, while vitamin C from blackberries helps support iron absorption 🏊 Lunch No lunch today — after a swimming lesson she wasn’t interested, which is very normal. Appetite naturally fluctuates with activity, tiredness and stimulation, we follow her cues. 🥩 Dinner • A strip of steak — a rich source of heme iron, important from around 6 months (mostly sucked and mouthed at this stage, which still counts) • Avocado wedge rolled in hemp seeds — healthy fats + non-heme iron • Cucumber quarters for grip, crunch and ongoing texture exposure A reminder I always need too: ✨ Iron exposure matters, even when intake is small ✨ Skipped meals are part of responsive feeding ✨ Variety and repetition over time matter more than one day #whatmybabyeats #babyledweaning #blw #startingsolids #dayonaplate
