i love this, and this might actually work for people, BUT I'd stick with ERP cuz my intrusive thoughts aren't "what if I do this" or "what if this happens" they're "you did this awful thing in the past, and you gotta suffer for the rest of your life, and you have to confess that thing to people to show the 'real you' because you're lying to them or you're not really genuine, they need to know" or what people may call 'real event ocd'
so yeah, in my case, i'd rather do erp, but thanks so much for this!!!

Isn't this also compulsive in a way? neutralizing/arguing against your ocd thoughts wouldn't they make it worse because i feel like for me i'd just feel like id come up with a counter arguement or it turns into a compulsion and makes the OCD stronger?

I have OCD and have awful compulsions when i go to bed. I need to have everything perfect (my sheets etc) before i lay in it. If it doesnt feel right i need to get out of bed and do it again. What is something to sah to myself to reverse it? My anxiety goes up like crazy if it isn't good.

This is what I do! For example, If I am worried about someone I love getting hurt I think oh wow, that must mean I really care about them and my brain is showing this to me because it knows the exact ways to scare me. And then I just think wow I’m so lucky to have people in my life that I love so much. Definitely calling this UNO reverse from now on!💪

what if someone has real life ocd? Where you have compulsions based on bad memories where you were in the wrong so you dont repeat the same mistakes?

Its crazy that, calling a thought “Ridiculous” is considered a compulsion….but when normal people call a thought “ridiculous”, its healthy…🤷🏽♂️

This is so much easier said than done. Appreciate the tip forsure but I’m not sure if this would work for everyone as ocd affects us all differently ❤️

I don’t know how to do this with ROCD. I’m stuck in the cycle of wondering whether this is ROCD or whether I’ve fallen out of love but too scared to leave. And I’m stuck and can’t move forward. Everyday I feel miserable, have panic attacks and can’t show up properly in my relationship. Don’t know what to do. 💔

So give an example of what a reverse would look like exactly.
my OCD surrounds death and illness. I get these sensations and think im about to die of a heart attack.

Amazing advice! Thank you. What about health anxiety? Like compulsively convincing myself that I got food poisoning (even if i didnt even eat anything that day), I get that several times a day and it usually sends me into a panic attack
