We implemented a policy where we email a form to the customer authorizing the purchase with the credit card number, total amount and a signature. If the customer doesn't send the completed form back the order doesn't get processed. We haven't lost a charge back case since. Sorry this happened to you.

Banker here; escalate your case to higher management, the ombudsman team and also file a report with FCAC, as long as you can provide them with proof. Unfortunately these cases are increasing day by day.

You should absolutely file a police report. Shopify might be more open to investigating when they see that there is a police report filed.

I’m so sorry this happened. I would agree that you need to file a police report and probably and get a lawyer that can probably help you deal with Shopify. I’m not sure if there’s any lawyers out there that know how to deal with them.

Same happened with my photography and why I stopped. I got scammed out of $3,000. It made me lose faith in people. I’m so sorry you went through this. I cried so much for this and it still hurts even though it was 3 years ago. People are sick!

This credit card probably was not hers. Maybe the owner of the card is the person who reported it and the charge back was done by their bank. But in our devastating Canadian economy at the moment-im so sorry.

We get chargebacks all the time. And we have proof of delivery, and the bank still sides with the customer. We hardly even win a case no matter how much proof we have. It’s awful.
