In a heartbreaking show of respect and grief, the staff that Alex Pretti worked with every day honored him as his body was wheeled out, saluting him for his years of service to America’s veterans and for his martyrdom at the hands of Trump’s paramilitary goon squad. Pretti is remembered for his big heart and his genuine love for helping others. “He was a really great colleague and a really great friend,” said his colleague, Dr. Dimitri Drekonja. “The default look on his face was a smile.” Another colleague, Ruth Anway, told the New York Times that “He really thrived in that environment.
