It's bc when you've been programmed to be in fight/flight or chaser/people pleaser mode for so long, you're conditioned that love has a price so your nervous system gets a hit, "excited" when it feels that familiarity. That's when love and peace feels boring bc it isn't familiar or what you've been programmed to believe. Healing is showing the nervous system to calm down to receive calm love. He is correct.
