Just use the smartex app to buy it then link to your suica card. Then all you have to do is tap at the gate and it gives you your reservation ticket as you walk through..

Just use the suica app on your phone for the basic ticket- tap the phone to go in and out of terminal. Then use Klook for the bullet train.

Register Smart-EX and buy the tickets there. Once you land in Japan, buy a Suica/ICOCA or whatever and connect those kinds of card to your reservation. If you head to Aomori/Sendai, do it with Ekinet.

The base fare ticket doesn't (just) get you in and out, it's your ticket for riding the train - it's the base fare for that. The shinkansen ticket is the fare for going extra fast. The same happens on other express trains where you pay the base fare for the trip plus the extra for going faster. This isn't a "hack" though - calling it that will confuse people that they don't need to do it (you have to) - it's just explaining how it works for people who don't know.
