This was our most recent water exposure- it was harsher than most of our exposures! This is not something I’d recommend to all cat parents- please know your cats body language very well before trying something like this! This was stressful for her- but stress is not inherently bad. I occasionally try to push her harder than normal, because this helps her build resilience and trust- I don’t want her to be too comfortable because I want to widen her window of tolerance rather than close it. I intentionally gave her control over the situation- that being said- I almost tapped out because I could see we were close to crossing the line into this being a distressing situation- but that’s when she gave in and faced her fears! Not every exposure goes perfectly. I also don’t know if I’d do this again- I don’t want her associate water with a traumatic experience. I just want this account to be transparent about our experiences! Not all exposures go well- and not all cats would be able to manage this. #cattraining #travelcat #adventurecat #rescuekitten #rescueanimal
