@jamageddon: Long one for the nerds. I tried my best to understand fluid dynamics, so please try not to be a dick. I am not a chartered aerodynamicist, just someone who fell down a research rabbit hole. My original setup created Confined Impinging Jets (fans fighting), which trapped heat in a Recirculation Zone. To fix it, I switched to Unidirectional Flow. By aligning the velocity vectors, I fought the No-Slip Condition (sticky air) and let the pressure gradient handle the rest. #pcbuilding #fluiddynamics #physics #airflow #engineering
As an aerodynamicist I loved this. You did a great job. Fluid dynamics is mind melting the first time you dive in and you did an incredible job with a lot of the theory. Keep studying and soon you’ll hallucinate flow, pressure gradients, and streamlines everywhere you look

mechanical engineer here. I think your explanation with the graph was lacking clarity. A turbulent boundary layer enhances mixing and improves heat transfer, which is beneficial for cooling components like CPUs. However, even so, we still prefer an organized, directional airflow in a computer because this minimizes recirculation of hot air. By having fans draw cool air in and exhaust hot air out, we ensure a steady, controlled dissipation of heat.

As someone who has a masters in Fluid Dynamics/Mechanics and CFD, this is such a non issue in a PC, just ignore them.
