The scene where the kittens are climbing the lead character’s pant leg has always stuck with me. He represented safety for young life, even though he didn’t choose to see himself through that lens at first.

apparently it’s an adaptation from a book- and in the book the men become infertile whereas in the movie they made it that the women became infertile.

Yes! Read the book too! Definitely prefer the movie over book here with this one. But the book does go into lots of details about pets, death ceremonies, the fall of governments world wide. Felt like the book kinda somehow skips over the key parts of the movie-not nearly as dramatic or heart felt. This movie was an absolute fav for years!
