A local resident noticed something unusual while on a walk and alerted 911 around 2:00 PM. Castro was initially charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty and was held in custody on a $3 million bail. Had the case gone to trial, he faced a maximum sentence of 69 years to life in prison. To avoid a trial, Castro accepted a plea deal Castro pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter alongside a felony gun-use enhancement. June 15, 2018 At the Vista Superior Court, Judge K. Michael Kirkman handed down the agreed-upon sentence of 21 years in state prison. Her sister, Tinamarie Herrera, shared that in the months leading up to her death, Antonia had been deeply anxious and feared for her safety.
