I love your original point and I agree completely but it's important we don't mention adoption like it's an alternative, children in foster care need adoptive parents who are willing to put in the work to help them though their trauma, I speak from experience as the partner of an adoptee.

wow i am going through this playlist on your page and just getting thoughtmogged at every turn. i just had to go and delete a comment on your other video about this topic saying that i thought it was fine if no payment was involved but the way you have explained it has changed my mind. like yeah the process does reduce a woman to her reproductive organs you are right

Agree with most of what this video is saying!! The one thing I wanted to add is that adoption is not less corrupt then surrogacy and a lot of the issues with one intertwine with the other. No one is “entitled to children” as you stated and this applies to adoption. Lots of the issues with adoption stem from the commodification of womens bodies and the lack of access to reproductive care

I hear your argument. But if consenting adults want to lend their body to a friend so that they can have biological children, I don't think it's my (or your) job to tell people what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. There are definitely issues with the fertility industry, but a blanket "no" because you don't like it, is the same kind of restricting women's rights to choose for their own bodies that you seem to be against.

True! But I do think "you can always adopt" is as simple of an alternative as people make it out to be. I understand the thought of helping children who already need the help rather than creating more demand by making a new child (if that explains it well enough lol), but many adoptees have expressed problems and the trauma they endured BECAUSE of adoption. Now to be fair, I dont know what I would currently say is a better alternative. Its just that, as much as I hope and wish thaf everyone who wants to have children can have and raise them, I don't think anyone is ENTITLED to having a child, if that makes sense. Not in the way of "if youre poor/disabled/[whatever other group of people] you can't have children", but more in a "maybe its time we start thinking about children not just from our perspective of wanting a child, but also what that child could want/need from us and how we can, within our realistic capability, provide it" way

I think our society puts way too much emphasis and importance into biological children without acknowledging the many children who need a home.

Icl don’t think it reduces women to their organs I think if someone if financially stable and not doing it out of desperation they should be able to consent to something like that. It’s not like people can only give birth once. I obviously don’t believe people should be able to “have access to women’s bodies” without their consent. But by the same logic u don’t think blood transfusions with financial compensation is ethical.

How is it bad if the women are okay with being surrogates it's just a business transaction at the end of the day the whole "reducing women to their ability to give birth" is more of a social issue not obviously women can give birth and not everyone wants kids so if they're willing to help out knowing the risks of pregnancy, it's not really harming anyone and it's making the most amount of ppl happy with the least amount of discontent ✌️😭

I think it’s the unknown risk of surrogacy and kidney donation. I could sell my kidney for $60K. If I always remain in good health, it’s worth the donating. But if I get cancer, one kidney is going to really mess me up. What happens then?

Actually, as an nursing student, I must tell you, the baby doesn't NEED to have skin to skin contact with the biological mother at all; while being ideal due to creating bond with the baby, any person like another nurse, partner, friend, etc. can do it instead, so that the baby can regulate their temperature—in case of surrogacy, the surrogate doesn't do it due to not wanting to create a bond, the real parents do it for her. Also, most surrogates are women in their 20s-40s, upper-middle class, married and employed, with the majority gaining above-the-average salaries. Only 26% of surrogates do it for money alone, the majority does it out of kindness and altruistic due to most likely being close to the couple they are being a surrogate for. And, only abt 50,57 deaths out of 100.000 mil occur in pregnancies, with roughly only 4-6% being dangerous and risky for the pregnant women

I hate it when they jump with the "except in cases where it's a family member/friend" because do they not think people from cultures who put immense pressures on women having biological children would not pressure a sister, a sister in law or even a family friend into doing it "for the family"? People already get pissy about someone having an abortion if someone another woman in their family or even their social circle struggles with infertility because they think they are entitled to that potential baby.

i agree that the biological children thing is bs and it doesn't matter if you have biological children BUT if the surrogate consents its not reducing them to their womb its simply acknowledging that they have one. im all for women's rights which is why I support the right to surrogacy JUST as much as the right to abortion
