As someone who lived in North Dakota & moved to Texas these houses are NOT built for the cold. They are built to keep heat OUT and cold IN. There are SO many bridges/overpasses so black ice is everywhere. Even if you know how to drive in it others do not. I would 100% drive in a snow storm in ND but never attempt it here.

Idk why some people are comparing, and tearing people down. It’s terrible everywhere rn, we don’t have to fight about it 😭

In Canada, we don’t all use winter tires, snow crews don’t start for days in many areas. Was -54 at a community with 150 people the other day and they all still showed up to work. I get it’s bad there but it’s the complaining that gets me. You think a community only accessible by air for 90% of the year is prepared for -54 and wind gusts of 154 km/h? They also have no where to go when their power goes out which happens frequently. Their roofs were blowing off and they still made do. But a little ice shuts down Texas.

no i’m from michigan where we get a bunch of snow, and that would really make a difference here too at least when it comes to roads. Thankfully our homes are insulated but that’s terrifying!

exactly that’s what ppl don’t understand!! i’m from brazil and have lived in canada and i swear, winter in brazil (we don’t get under 50°F like ever 😭) is WORSE. in canada there are heaters and furnaces everywhere you go. you will only be cold if your outside.

Hi :
sounds like your governor or mayor needs to make better steps to be equipped for this because it seems to happen at least once a year now

People in El Paso, TX acting like its the end of the world with 3 inches of soft snow (that never froze and melted after 2 hours), when the other parts of Texas are like this. 🤣
