@brennatalkstoomuch: Replying to @icawa 12 bro this data supports all my claims 😆 also… do you think the most attractive men are making online accounts, or flirting more irl? #men #women #Love #dating #datinggoals #datingdata #relationships #flirting #howtoflirt #attractingwomen #womenbelike #misogyny #feminism #sexism #antisexism
Where's this level of scepticism and statistical rigor when looking at things like gender pay gap?

also what YEAR was it from? Because Okcupid in 2012 was extremely different from Okcupid in 2019 or 2026

1. Ok Cupid has massive amounts of data so they’re very credible when they put data like this out. 2. We see this based on the swipe rate, men generally swipe right or left 50 50, while women swipe right 5-10% of the time which tracks perfectly with this data. 3. I think it’s fair to say women put more effort in and generally are more attractive than men, but not 5-10 times as attractive. The fact that the average woman on a random man’s tinder has 10 times the chance of being swiped right than the average man is insane. 4. Women use other factors than just looks to filter men, but on dating apps looks are the primary filter which is why men they would maybe give a chance to in real life get none on the internet. 5 a lot of women’s pictures look like shit too, men are just less picky in a lot of ways. 6. Because men swipe right so much women have more options which means they don’t have to give men any time of day, but the men at the top also get all the attention from women so they don’t have to treat them well at all. 7. The very attractive men use apps,they just have literally hundreds of options so they don’t give a shit about anyone. 8. Basically we’ve created an unrealistic dating market where women think they have unlimited options but only go for the top men, and the top men actually have unlimited options so they treat women like shit. And basically any non top man and most women that aren’t able to find a spouse are left out in the cold and only a very small percentage of men get what they want and an even smaller percentage of women who end up getting married.

An additional point: who cares how women rate the attractiveness of men on dating apps? What matters is how they interact with men on dating apps. The same OkCupid data shows that women match with men they rated as less attractive at similar rates to higher attractiveness with the exception of the highest rated men. For the men in that very high most attractive bucket fewer women matched with them. These aren't robust studies so drawing conclusions from them is suspect at best but the full data, that redpill dudes don't like to talk about, clearly shows women care much less about attractiveness than men do.

I remember there being another graph from this same study that women were still more likely to engage with an interact with messages, despite rating men’s appearances lower, including messaging first. Meanwhile the men only were interested in messaging the highest rated women. It been years so I could be remebering wrong but I recall arguing with men about what this data really showed. It was all part of the same study and yet men cherry pick the part they want to talk about.

Will say more, about men and photos, we usually don't know how to take pictures of ourselves. Selfie or otherwise. That's why usually good pictures of us are often taken by someone else.

Yeah I don't even believe that graph without more details on the data. Cannot count the number of women who have said "I'm going out with this really cute guy" and they show me a photo and I'm like 😬

What’s wild is you know what arguably helped me the most when it came to talking with my current partner on hinge? It wasn’t my photos, it was the fact that I volunteered and we both talked about what we were reading. It gave me things to talk about and that was helpful

I feel like the graphic is reinforced by hypergamy and such I dont think it's good to use on the general population but I feel like it's very accurate on dating apps
