I became friends with other exchange students, and then I joined a club where I made even more friends. But the key to making friends during your exchange year is to be as social as possible and start conversations with other people

best advice I could give you is: JOIN A CLUB. and I know you hear this everywhere, but from my own experience: I didn't really make friends in my classes, even though I'm a very open person and I tried to talk to everyone, some of them were just not interested, we didn't have anything in common. But then when you go to a club that YOU have chosen, you will meet people with shared interests and it will make it so much easier. You just have to be open to talk to basically everyone. I joined my school's volleyball team at the beggening of the year, and it helped me so much, I instanty became friends with the girls from my team, and then I just met more and more people and I love it here. I'd say that finding new friends is easier in USA than other countries, since they are very used to getting new people every year, switching schools even during a semester, and you are not always with the same group of people since you all have different classes, so there is a bigger chance for you to meet someone. just relax, don't stress it, and even if it takes a couple weeks/months you will find your people💗

Talk to absolutely everyone for no reason, in class, in the halls, in the bathroom, u don't have friends in one class? Get a random and start talkingnto them, and relax at first, is normal to not get that close in the beginning, u eventually make it
