@estesparkconcierge: Another great memory of the most iconic bull elk in Colorado. He decided the baseball field was a perfectly acceptable place for a nap. Split 5 doing Split 5 things. 🦌⚾️ 📍Estes Park, Colorado.
When did he pass? I just heard…what’s the details?

The fact that he's this comfortable around people is crazy. but again...he knew the wolves wouldn't be there either. Smart guy.

So the elk was eventually hunted down by humans and someone in the comments called it “harvested”. What a horrendous word choice

For everyone who thinks this is AI: This is a very popular mountain town in Colorado called Estes Park. The town itself is nestled in a valley. There’s a very revered herd of Elk who come into the town every day to graze. For the people there, elk are basically geese. You see them always, and it’s just a part of the culture. It’s not AI. Google it..

Every ghost leaves something behind. Split 5 left his name, his rack, and a story now nailed to the wall of the hunter who claimed him by the book yesterday. Well done!

He was harvested legally this past year. What a legacy he created. His genetics have dominated the Estes Park herd for a very long time. I will miss seeing him every year.

Ok reading all the comments and I don’t have any skin in the game at all. But, if they grow to become so called legends, don’t they deserve a free pass at some point in their life? 😂

okay. video before this was of a woman in china that got her face mauled while trying to take a selfie with a wild snow leopard while skiing after getting within 10ft of it..... notice how nobody here is getting near the wild animal or getting mauled. people really need to respect wildlife. humans are the apex species of earth only because of our ability to use tools. otherwise, without tools, humans would definitely not be the apex of this planet.
